Kein San Francisco Bericht kommt ohne die Erwähnung von Blumen aus, schließlich war hier die Wurzel der Hippiebewegung. Und das Lied: If you're going to ... ist leider ein echter Ohrwurm. Sorry.
Und tatsächlich ist San Francisco voller toller Blüten, Blumen, Früchte und Pflanzen.
No story about San Francisco without mentioning flowers. After all here are the roots of the Hippie movement. And the song »If you're going to San Francisco« is unfortunately a catchy tune. I am sorry.
But indeed the city is full of great flowers, plants and trees.
Mich haben besonders die Sukkulenten, die praktisch vor jedem Haus angepflanzt sind und die Eukalyptusfrüchte fasziniert, aber auch kalifornischer Mohn, Magnolien, und etliche Bäume, deren Namen ich leider nicht kenne.
I was most fascinated by Succulents, which are planted nearly in front of every house, also by eucalyptus, poppies, magnolia and some more plant whose names I don't even know.
Wir hatten das Glück, dass alle Museen die wir besuchten, immer gerade irgendetwas mit Illustration zeigten oder sehr inspirierend waren. Besonders beeidruckend war die Ausstellung von Georgia O' Keeffe, die berühmten lilanen Blumen, meine Referenz hier in blau, sind schnöde Pelargonien, die es auch hier auf jedem Balkon gibt. Sie hat sie so sehr vergrößert, dass sie etwas edles und monumentales bekommen.
All museums which we have visited showed exhibitions which had something to do with illustration. Which was good fortune for us. The most inspiring exhibition was of Georgia O' Keeffe. Her famous purple flowers (I did one in blue) are simple Geraniums which we have here in Germany on every balcony. She painted them in a huge size which gave them a noble and monumental touch.
